Welcome to Little Shed Lavender at Solstice Farm, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

SOLSTICE FARM

This is our first year with a crop in the ground, initially we decided to concentrate on a single cultivar 'Phenomenal' . Phenomenal has one of the highest essential oil contents of any lavender variety, it is intensely, delisciously fragrant. It imparts a lovely flavor to foods, and the scent lasts a long time in craft projects. Not only that but it is also a superiorly hardy lavender and can handle harsh winters and taxing summers with grace in very varied conditions.

Time will tell but we think we have made a good choice!

Tolerance to Heat and High Humidity

Phenomenal is drought tolerant once established, keep watered during that first year! It also can thrive through those hot, humid days summer where some lavenders, mostly more suited to a hot dry climate can not.

Extra Winter Hardiness

Phenomenal is more winter hardy than other Lavandins, reliably hardy to zone 5 and has been know to survive down to zone 4 when located in a sheltered position.

Little or No Winter Die Back

Phenominal is pretty unique in that it does not suffer like other lavenders from the rather unsightly die back the plant remians in a good looking mound with almost a. pink tinge to the leaves.
